East Anglia’s Best Barista 2025 – New challenges, new prizes, same prestigious title.

WHAT CAN I WIN?

The top prize will be a Nuova Simonelli Oscar II espresso machine and Eureka Mignon grinder courtesy of Nouva Distribution UK and Jaguar Espresso Systems.

Rules and Scoring

The 2025 EABB will see baristas compete in three disciplines, some of which will be head-to-head.

First a taste test will see the competitors cup 5 different coffees from around the world and attempt to work out which producing countries they hail from and how they were processed. Can they tell a Washed Ethiopia from a Natural Brazil?

Once they have tasted their way around the world the competitors’ sensory memories are then tested as the bowls are shuffled and must be re-ordered by the competitors to their original positions, scoring points for the number they get correct. As well as being against the clock, one other competitor will be completing the task at the same time, increasing the pressure.

An order round will conclude the test of the baristas’ skills. A basic latte art dice will be rolled to determine the style of art required in the milk drinks and they will then be judged on the quality of each drink, the quality of latte art and the time in which they complete the order.

The top scoring barista will go home with the title of East Anglia’s Best Barista, a trophy and the top prize. Bonus prizes will be awarded to top scores in other rounds as well.
